Last night I attended an art reception at the Art Lounge Gallery. Plenty of art, artists, food, music ,(country of course, ) . The reception was planned around the event of a time capsule being buried in the center of downtown Plant City, and not to be opened until the year 2085.
I won't be attending that! Robert Woods artist, designed and created the sculpture that sits right on top of the capsule. The unveiling of that piece was last night. I'm posting some of the photos of the piece, the plaque under which the capsule is buried and some of the surrounding area. The sculpture can be seen in front of the building mural..
Also The Whistle Stop Cafe, our local eatery.,and as I was headed home (about 3 miles) I took some photos of the southern looking homes on my way to the other side of the tracks so to speak... Click on the plaque if you 'd like to read it .. BJ .
Well now, I'm beginning to feel like a visit to Plant City! Looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteAlas, I won't be there for the time capsule opening either! LOL But what a fabulous day this sounds to have been. I think I mentioned before that there is a Whistle Stop cafe near us too. It is one of my favorite places to go, in fact. Your Whistle Stop has a prettier building though...

ReplyDeleteWhat a great event! I wish i could have been there. the Whistle Stop Cafe sounds like a great place to spend a wee bit of time over tea and crumpets. I loved the houses too and want to live in the green one. that be nice. Thanks for stopping by my blog Barbara. Always a pleasure.
ReplyDeleteI will be looking down on it from heavens point of view unless I really mess up down here lol. Sounds like a fun day.
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice creative sculpture sitting on top of the time capsule. Whistle Stop Cafe sounds so little townish. Wonderful old homes. Been a while since I've seen palm trees.
