From a World Away

Visited a place in Englewood yesterday..Shop the World Gifts.  They have beautiful handmade things from every part of the world.
The artisans are already paid for their work and then this missionary couple bring them here ... The place looks like a well lit, cared for museum.  Everything in there is made of fiber, textile, wood, paper, soap stone, beads and more...
I settled on this star made from recycled folded magazines. I imagine the strips are about a 1/4" wide, then rolled and made into hearts, flowers, birds, owls. The one I really liked was the tree of life, but finally decided on the star... These are made in Jerusalem.
My whole day was spent with my friend Joy, an artist crafter who has a small cabin on the river and comes up with her husband on weekends.  Visited a textile and history museum attatched to an antique place.. took lots of pics of the surrounding old houses, maybe to paint or sketch at some time.. always fascinated by those old homes. Sadly some are in ruins, and cannot be saved. But I like them anyway.

This was a little setup scene at the end of someones farm driveway
complete with scarecrow and pumpkins. .
And then on the way back again...  It was a good day. !

  2. What a fun day! As you can tell, I'm a little behind in my blogging and blog reading. The time just gets away from me!
