Gee, I used to have legs like that when I was a kid.. but their knees go back when they walk. They'll wait patiently forever staying very still until a poor unsuspecting small fish comes along. The last photo he is standing on my deck railing.

Nice to see them so close! He probably ate yesterday's bug!
ReplyDeleteBJ - gorgeous photos of the heron...we catch site of them around the lakes here - they are stunning to see and I always get excited and make Dick stop if we are driving around. (hope everyone who is behind us wants to stop too) LOL thanks for sharing and yes much better than the beetle bug ugh!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! When I surprised one of these on a hike at work, it flew off across the lake and uttered a sound right out of the horror movies, haha. I think it's call is the one used in all those old movies with pterodactyls flying in them.
ReplyDeleteApparently Jerry and I think alike at times. I to was thinking this guy could eat that bug! LOL I see these beautiful birds often around here but never have seen one visit my place like this adventurous gent was doing with you yesterday. Love your deck!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful images from You!I love this Heron and this lake...Warm greetings from italy!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. Wow right on your deck. You mentioned alligators in your backyard. I can see why now. Do they really come up in your yard?!!! OMG that would scare me...... I have only had one Blue Heron visit this summer and he looked very thin. We had such a rough winter I fear we lost some.
